What is a digital product?

A digital product can be a book, online course, audio or any other thing related. Most people see creating a digital product as hard work but if you hang on with me, I'll show you how to make it quicker and less stressful. The truth is that you're going to have to invest some work to make money or build an online business and when you invest work, you make $$$. It is something certain.

Tell me one famous online marketer that doesn't own a digital product... I'll wait. Is it Neil Patel, Anik Singhal or Ryan Deiss? These people basically give you free content in exchange for your email, build a relationship (as in get you to know, like and trust them) through email then advertise their digital product to you. You're more likely to buy from a friend than one random guy that sends you to his sales page and bores you by talking about his product.

So...

How do you create a best-selling digital product?

Young boy thinking by the pool.

It starts from an idea but when you're about to build a product, it shouldn't only be about what you think. Guessing can be very dangerous, trust me. Why guess what people want when you can actually check to see if that's what people really want.

You can use this process from the Lean Startup by Eric Deiss. Take a day to get out of the building and ask potential customers if they'd like a certain product, their biggest problem with products in that niche and how much they'd pay for a product that solves that problem (if you're an online person, you can do a survey on your website.) Like if I were to build a teaching program, I'd look for the problem with most teaching programs in that niche and make sure mine solves that problem so when I'm advertising, I can tell people that this solves XYZ problem. Like how that commercial with Charmin Ultra-soft says they're against wasteful wadding (which is the biggest problem with toilet paper).

If it's a book, you can write it in a weekend. Pick a voice recorder and record what you'd want to be in your book for each chapter. After recording your voice, transcribe it into words and edit. You can even pay someone on Fiverr five dollars to transcribe and edit for you. Now that I have given you two ways to make the process of creating a digital product faster, the next thing is how to market that digital product.

Actually, I already told you how to market the product. Just do what those famous online marketers do. Create a lead magnet (free content that is impossible to resist), give it to people in exchange for their email address, get them to like and trust you then advertise. You can learn more about the marketing here. Make sure that when you're advertising your product, you're actually talking about what consumers will benefit from the product not the features of the product.

Conclusion

In real life, all this is not as easy as it sounds. You're actually going to need a guide and my mentor, Eben Pagan, is giving a free video series that you can always watch while creating your product. Don't worry he's not going to tell you to buy his product after watching his videos. You can join if you're interested and also save this post so you can come back to it anytime while creating your product.
